The Grand
Hotel Karezza is located at about 30 Km from Bolzano and
at 7 Km from Nova Levante. The hotel is located at a height
of 1630 m above sea level, while the lake is 100 m below.
To the right, towards the Latemar, the homonymous woods stretch out over an area
of about 1000 hectares. Above the hotel marvellous meadows and Alpine woods stretch
out eastward up to Passo di Costalunga and to the slopes of the Catinaccio. Whoever
comes here for the first time will be overwhelmed by the great variety of the
landscapes and anyone fond of the beauty of nature can enjoy them not only with
their eyes, but also enjoy and experience them to their fullest.
The Grand Hotel, a favourite destination for trips and visits, is located halfway
between Passo di Costalunga and Lake Carezza and an excellent starting point
for plenty of walks and excursions.
The shortest way from Bolzano is the road built in 1860 crossing Val d’Ega.
It is a breathtaking narrow furrow in the quartz porphyry overlooking Bolzano.
The Rosengarten (or "Catinaccio") and the Latemar, whose peaks and
ridges are famous for their unique beauty, are the ruins and remains of mighty
reefs that now reach far to the sky. The French scientist Theodat De Dolomieu
was the first to study these minerals. He was even the one to give them their
name: "the Dolomites".
Karezza is a marvellous "region", covered by wide meadows and beautiful
woods, cool in the summer and covered with snow in the winter. It has always
been a favourite holiday destination during any season of the year.
During the summer it is perfect for long walks, cycle paths, horseback riding,
golf and tennis . . .
There are many different programs offering a wide of events ranging from folk
festivals, concerts, and slideshows to visits to the area's many typical farmsteads
and ancient castles. And don't forget the incredible climbs through the mountains:
almost all of the peaks can be reached with varying degrees of difficulty. Of
course, there is always an experienced alpine guide you can rely on! And then
there's our marvellous playground surrounded by green lawns for our younger guests.
Karezza by winter offers 27 km of ski runs, 15 ski lifts from Passo Costalunga
to Nova Levante, 3 bobsleigh runs, a fantastic playground on the snow for children
plus a ski school and kindergarten, free shuttle service, ice-skating and the
rental of winter sports items.
Finally, if you don't like to ski, there are plenty of snow-covered trails for
long walks through the woods and chairlifts with breathtaking sights.
